KARI BLAK

Artist, Kari Blackburn-Sylvain, is dedicated to reimagining the world through bright colors and works to build intersections between art and activism. His  studio practice includes; children’s book illustrations, graphic design, public murals, and arts education. Much of his work addresses today’s socio-political climate, the black ethereal, afrofuturism, and color theory. As a core member and lead designer of Mural Moves (artist Co-op), Kari is focused on amplifying the voices of a new generation of black cultural keepers on the south and west sides of Chicago. In addition, Kari and his brothers created Natty Bowy LLC (Bike/ Skate Shop), to share their passion for  bike cycling and skateboarding,  offering free weekly classes to local community youth.
