In Dr. Diane Grams’ book “Producing Local Color,” Diasporal Rhythms – an organization of art collectors in Bronzeville – is identified as an aesthetic network, while the Pilsen art scene is defined as an art network affected by gentrification. “South by Near South” asks audiences to explore Diasporal Rhythms artists Peter Gray, Candace Hunter, Dayo Laoye, Tony Wade and Raub Welch. Curated by Mike Nourse and a team of CAD resident artists, the show will bring people together to explore how crossing neighborhoods is such an important part of being Chicagoan.
