Vicko is a Chicago based comic artist and graphic illustrator. Through her webcomic, ScholaR Comics, she tells the story of three middle schoolers figuring life out on their own terms and addresses topics she was too scared to talk about as a kid. In her graphic illustration work she uses comic inspired design to bring topics of gender, race, and sexuality in Latinx community to the forefront. At the heart of work is the desire to depict the multitude of realities of the Latinx diaspora and engage communities using illustration as a medium all ages can access. Her illustrations have been showcased at The Museum of Latin American Art in Long Beach, The National Hispanic Cultural Center in Albuquerque, and have been featured in the award winning “Tales from la Vida: A Latinx Comics Anthology”.
