Jochen Stierberger

Jochen Stierberger is a multidisciplinary artist leaning towards photography as a medium. During the end of his MFA, Jochen went to Beijing for three years (2017-2020) to study the phenomenon of melancholy as well as social fears as result of overpopulation in the context of ever-changing megacities.

His photographic work centers on what is not apparently visible. Using a conceptual approach, he creates a reduced pictorial language adapted to each particular topic, always oscillating between documentation and conscious staging.

In 2020, he relocated to the United States, working in Los Angeles on a body of work about the LA River and was lucky to exhibit his works in renowned institutions like the Deutsche Boerse Photography Foundation in Frankfurt, Germany and the Goethe-Institut in Paris, France.
