Oscar Lopez Flores was born in Oaxaca, Mexico and began his arts training at the age of 14.  He graduated from the University of Veracruz in Xalapa with an B.F.A. in Painting. While studying, Oscar participated in exchange programs in Bratislava, Slovakia and Houston, Texas.  He has participated in workshops at the Center for Arts in San Agustin Etla, Oaxaca (CASA), the Allende Institute in San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato and the Taller Rufino Tamayo in Oaxaca.  These trainings have included techniques in etching, bronze sculpture, painting, drawing & pottery.  Oscar has participated in exhibitions in Oaxaca, Chicago, Singapore, Indonesia and Korea among others.  He received the Young Artist Grant from the State of Oaxaca in 2006 and has worked in Oaxaca as a gallery assistant, arts librarian and art professor. He has resided in Chicago since 2009.
