Catie Burrill | Resident

Catie Burrill is a Chicago-based fiber artist whose work celebrates divergent minds through found objects and textiles. Inspired by her years of traveling across the U.S. on Greyhound buses, in nondescript cargo vans, and on a circus train, her art explores outsider narratives, mad identity, and storytelling through stitchwork.

Burrill is a Studio Resident at Chicago Art Department and a member of Chicago Sculptors International.  She has exhibited locally in Chicago with Cherry Knot Curation, Purple Window Gallery, and CSI Project Space.  Her recent two-person show at Parlour & Ramp earned her a review in the Chicago Reader Newspaper.  She presented her work, “Madness and the Unromantic Road: A Non-Linear Artist Talk,” at the 2025 College Art Association (CAA) Conference for the Session, “On Crip Time.”  Burrill received her BFA in Fiber and Material Studies at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, alongside apprenticing for Bread & Puppet Theatre Company.  You can learn more on her website.
