Patric McCoy | Board Member
President, Diasporal Rhythms
Visiting Artist & Scholar, SAIC | Collector
Patric has been a strong community member and advocate for Pilsen, supporting many galleries and African American artists. For the last 50 years, he has been collecting African American art—90% of which was created by Chicago artists. His work with CAD’s board has been driven by a mission to bring these artists back to the area after an exodus in the early 2000s due to the shifting economic and social landscape of the community. He co-founded Diasporal Rhythms, a nonprofit organization that promotes the collection of art from the African diaspora by individuals and institutions. He is a prolific photographer whose work encapsulates the vibrant life of Black and Brown communities in Chicago from the late ’70s to the early ’90s.
