Site-Specific Time Installation by Amie Sell
3,000 clock hands will be transformed into a site specific installation in the window of the Chicago Art Department gallery. The clock hands will be removed from their typical function as indicators of time and will transformed into a free-flowing, abstract cloud of confusion. The beginning and end of the installation will be celebrated with a conversational forum.
Conversational Forum hosted by R. Scott Pfledderer
Light-hearted and engaging dialog in a casual setting on the subject of time, open to all interested parties and the public.
Points may include:
Spatial vs Temporal (space vs. duration)
Might there have been “time” before the Big Bang?
Does time help indicate the vastness of space?
Challenges of discussing time as a discreet single topic.
Time as a barrier to space travel
Time as a constant
Effect of Post-Industrial/modern vs. Pre-Industrial/pre-prime Meridian time frames on the planet
Also, feel free to add to the various aspects of the time conversation. Maybe something a little more abstract like verbalizing or digitizing “tic toc” noises for a random duration, or quoting “Back to the Future” scenes.
