Artists Talk: Through the Looking Glass
May 24th, 2019
7:30
Join us at the Chicago Art Department, Friday May 24 at 7:30pm for a joint artist talk with exhibiting artists from Through the Looking Glass. Sara Ludy, Galina Schevchenko, and Valerie Xanos are artists working in New Media. They will discuss their conceptual connections and divergences as explored in their installation works. Enjoy experiencing the interactive installations before the exhibition closes!
Through the Looking Glass is a group show of four interdisciplinary artists. Margarita Fainshtein, Sara Ludy, Galina Schevchenko, and Valerie Xanos create audio and video installations that intersect at the point of the transformative journey. The works explore sublime visions of transformation, enticing the visitor through metaphorical portals to examine their bodies in perceptual and phenomenological relationships with shifting sensual experiences. Memory, time, and meditation all play their part as we pass through the looking glass into immersive worlds evocative of visceral, primordial, and intimate connections.
