Post-Practice
September 13 – Oct 26, 2019
An emerging group rooted from a shared institutional background at the University of Illinois at Chicago’s School of Art and Art History gathers together to present an experimental form of the art-making process. Post Practice sets the stage for a reconfiguration of the artists’ interdisciplinary education through challenging use of alternative materials and pushing the spectrum of the individuals thesis. As a collective, the group utilizes this platform as agency to augment shared notions such as configuring loss, reclaiming space, challenging gender normatives and labor politics, intimacy, and identity through artistic expression. Together, they confront the viewer with provocative questions and demand one to take an acknowledged stance on these subjects in today’s cultural climate.
Featuring work by Adam Cipcic, Amanda Cervantes, Ashley Clodfelter, Brian Griffin, Carlos Flores, Em Racine, Emily Lynch, Kathryn Morrison, Kiki Zhen, Madeline Julia Smith, Martin Hernandez, Miao Wang, Miriam Bisby, Mo Bella Russo, Eric Rylo, Sam Crespo, Sara Palomo, and Tshab Her
