Chicago Art Department is pleased to present video installation by v-nels, opening Friday September 15th from 6-10pm. In his words, “spaces, or, events–space that includes time or an event that includes space. it could be anything–and really is anything–however here i am interested in a ritual space…that includes the passing of time, the presence in a physical space, one that has already become a simulation of itself…since the physical space is actually nothing more than an emotional space…an antechamber space…a bifurcating space that mediates flows + falls back on itself + re-becomes nothing but space…a space-event that is continuous + stands in for + next to all other space-events…content is null…information self-replicates in all permutations through a continuous coding + re-coding of nonsimultaneously parceled chains…what is inscribed in the space-event can be seen only as flows of information across a field of distribution…the space-event is a traceroute…it is only a virtuality of permutation…it is only a simulation of the space-event…” For more information about the artist or to schedule an appointment, visit v-nels.com.
