CanStruction

CanStruction combines the competitive spirit of a design/build competition with a unique way to help feed hungry people. Competing teams, led by architects and engineers, showcase their talents by designing giant sculptures. Teams design and build structures made entirely from canned foods within a 10’x10’x8′ space. All canned goods are donated to the Greater Chicago Food Depository following Decanstruction.

PEER PROOF

Our first event to kick off Chicago Design Week 2010 is a crowd-juried show titled Peer Proof. For the price of admission, attendees can showcase their best work in several categories. Work on display will be voted on by attendees. The winners within each category will be revealed and on display at the AIGA Chicago Annual Members Meeting and published online.

All AIGA student chapters and non-member students will have the opportunity to gather at Columbia’s Conaway Center to take part in a live recording of DesignChat with guest Art Chantry. DesignChat is the weekly video and text-based conversation between creatives. Enjoy a night of lively conversation as people from Chicago’s creative student community, shake hands and exchange ideas.

AIGA CHICAGO ANNUAL MEMBERS MEETING

Join us at our 2010 Annual Members Meeting for a night of reflection and inspiration. We will be presenting our second annual AIGA Chicago Corporate Design Leadership Award to Morningstar, the Fellow Award to Arnold Goodwin and the 2010 Student Enrichment Scholarship Awards. Kevin Lyons, Design Director of Anomaly, will share his insights on the future of design.
