IMMIGRANT OWNED

Since 2017, photographer Jonathan Michael Castillo has been documenting the interiors of immigrant owned businesses in Chicago and making honorific portraits of the people who run them. Over the years his Immigrant Owned series has grown to include businesses in most Chicago neighborhoods as well as capture the diverse groups of immigrants that call Chicago home and the eclectic businesses they operate.

This exhibition brings together the largest selection of photographs from Castillo’s Immigrant Owned series to date and offers an opportunity to reflect on the important ways in which immigrants contribute to Chicago’s economy and cultural identity. The show opens December 8th, 6-10pm, and is curated by
