JUST DO IT: CHRISTOPHE ROBERTS

You might have seen his work at this year’s NEXT Fair, as part of Artropolis. You might have run into him at some of our past shows at Chicago Art Department. He is a local artist that is running wild with a new series of sculptures made out of Nike shoe boxes. Christophe Roberts is worth checking out. He grew up in Chicago and his art has taken him to California and England, among other places. Now his work is gaining much deserved notoriety which we are pleased as punch to see.

“From graphic design to painting, from tight compositions to chaotic matter”, Christophe’s style is driven to mix the many disciplines from his background. With these images we see his sculpture works, but his paintings are equally powerful and complex, full of technical prowess and strong meaning.

Christophe’s work can now be seen as part of the Loop Alliance, as he will be presenting an installation starting May 13th which will be on display for 2 months, located at State and Adams. The goal with Pop-up Art Loop™, a non-profit initiative of Chicago Loop Alliance (CLA). CLA is “transforming vacant real estate into new temporary art spaces to create energy, excitement and additional foot traffic in the Loop.”

Please visit Christophe’s website for more information, and to follow his progress.
